This is a review of the data recovery software – 'Digital Rescue Premium', published by DT Utilities. The software is one of the most popular data recovery programs available on the internet. But does it deserve to be? Lets find out!

As usual, we'll start at the website. The site is very self explanatory and allows you to download a trial of Digital Rescue Premium before you buy (although its an older version). With the trial you can recover 3 files before having to purchase the product. The software costs $49.99 and downloading and installing the program is simple.

Once installed Digital Rescue Premium has three options – Recover lost files, Recover lost email and Permanently delete data (which can be very handy). The user interface is very simple to use and the wizard takes you through the process of retrieving what you need.

The Recover lost files option takes you to a second screen which gives you further options on searching for your deleted files. You can choose the drive that you want to search and tell the software to search for either everything, or either pictures, music, videos or documents. You can also type in part of the file name your looking for and a date that is was last modified (if you know these things this can speed up the search process).

The speed in which Digital Rescue Premium finds deleted files is very fast. Once you've started the search you can leave the process running in the background and come back to it later. The effectiveness of the program is also very good and the trial enables you to see exactly what can be recovered before you purchase.

Although the 'Recover lost email' function is handy, it will only work with outlook based email. That's email that's been hosted on your computer. If you use web based email like Hotmail or Gmail, this option won't be able to help you.

Help with Digital Rescue Premium comes in the form of a knowledge base and a troubleshooter (although the software is simple enough to probably never need this). They also have an online support ticket section which has an impressive response time.

All in all Digital Rescue Premium is a great product at a great price and well worth looking at. Download the trial first to see if it can find the files you need restoring.
